01: oh, i don't really know much about it at all. i think that the "light roast" has more caffeine than the "dark roast."

02: really!? i would have thought it would be the other way around!

01: no, i don't think so. the more you roast it, the more caffeine you burn out of it. that's what i guess, anyway. i don't really know for sure. it's just what i think it must mean.

02: that's neat. i never would have thought.

01: yeah. i read this other thing about how most of the coffee we get has been sitting around for a long time, and coffee has a kind of "half life."

02: really!?

01: oh yes. they say it sits there and gets bitter and what not. they say coffee is actually one of the sweetest drinks in existence. its flavor is more complex than wine. but we never get to taste it like that, because it's so old. most americans will never taste truly delicious coffee.

02: oh my! that's stunning to hear!

01: yes.

02: i guess there are always things we have to go without, even in the greatest country in the world.

01: yes, even in the greatest.

02: it's a little trade-off for the many freedoms we enjoy.

01: yes, freedoms.

02: thank god we're living here, instead of some country where the coffee is good but you have to worry about your government being overthrown by communists.

01: yes, communists.
